John Nicholson was an architect for 20 years before electing to write and illustrate non-fiction children’s books. His works are for those fascinated by, and inquisitive about, history and the world. John has published more than 20 titles, including two biographies – one on the pioneer Murray River paddlesteamer captain Francis Cadell and another on New Zealand Pakeha-Maori Frederick Maning.
Two illustrated books, Songlines and Stone Axes and Cedar, Seals and Whaling Ships, were published last year. The first investigates trade and ceremonial exchange in pre-European Australia while the second looks at Australia’s colonial-era economy – whaling, sealing, timber-cutting and more.
