In March 1993 this idea was enthusiastically discussed by a small group of people who believed it was possible. During the year the five worked quietly and steadily building the substance of a festival that would provide a major cultural event reaching beyond the school to the whole community. By the end of the year plans had accelerated and an impressive occasion was a certainty.
From within the school the encouragement was heartening. Indeed without the foresight and support of the school, the plans would not have gone beyond the planning stage. The writers were wonderful. Those who could, declared their support and promised attendance. For others, plans were projected to next year in the hope that such an event would be repeated.
From other areas support came at a rate almost proportional to the understanding of what was being proposed! Not all understood. Those with vision and faith did. This programme is proof that it could be done. It is also a tribute to all those who are part of the "celebration" and to their remarkable and highly esteemed talents.
