SCHOOL HONOURS
This award honours students at Somerset College in the areas, non-academic achievement and leadership. To achieve this award in the student's non-academic chosen activity, the student will have demonstrated skill and talent generally at the highest level available. To achieve this award in the area of leadership the student will have demonstrated exemplary leadership at a level recognized and respected by staff and students for their contributions to the College.
All recipients of this award will have also demonstrated:
- an exemplary manner in the representation of the College and the school spirit;
- exemplary citizenship and have acted as a consistently positive role model to the general school community;
- an acknowledged commitment to preparation and assistance in developing the school ethos over an extended period of time.
Candidates for this award are nominated by relevant staff for consideration by the relevant Awards Committee for recommendation to the Head for awarding of honours.
Students who reach this honour post award presentation will be presented for consideration and honours will be awarded if deemed appropriate.
FULL COLOUR
This award is the second highest level of non-academic achievement recognized by Somerset College. It is awarded on the basis of outstanding performance in the student's chosen activity and excellence in representation of the college.
Recipients of this award will have also demonstrated an excellent level of citizenship and school spirit, a commitment to preparation and assistance in developing the growth of the area within the school over an extended period of time.
Candidates for this award are nominated by relevant staff for consideration by the relevant Awards Committee for recommendation to the Head for awarding of full colour.
Students who reach this award level post award presentation will be presented for consideration and awards will be made if deemed appropriate.
HALF COLOUR
This is a major award granted by Somerset College for non-academic achievement. It is awarded on the basis of very high levels of performance in the student's chosen activity and whose actions represent the best interests of the college.
Recipients of this award will have also demonstrated a very high level of citizenship and school spirit, a commitment to preparation and assistance in developing the growth of the area within the school over an extended period of time.
Candidates for this award are nominated by relevant staff for consideration by the relevant Awards Committee for recommendation to the Head for awarding of honours.
Students who reach this award level post award presentations will be presented for consideration and awards will be made if deemed appropriate.
