Dance

Dance is an expressive human movement, which forms an integral part of human life and culture. Dance exists in a large variety of forms and for different purposes, ranging from a social pastime to theatrical performance and religious rite. It is a blending of body and mind; a form of non-verbal communication. Through dance, students develop an understanding of its value in their own and other cultures and extend their understanding of themselves, their place in society and of how they can communicate through dance. At Somerset College, Dance tuition is offered in the following areas:

    • Jazz/Modern/Funk
    • Classical Ballet (RAD)
    • Tap

FEES
Co-curricular lessons are organised on a term basis, with the provision of a minimum of 32 lessons per year, averaging eight lessons per term. Once enrolled, a full term's fees become payable and will be charged to the supplementary account. Withdrawal of a student from lessons during the term will not attract a refund or part refund of that term's fees. Every effort will be made to provide make-up lessons if the student is absent due to illness, however this cannot be guaranteed.

PLEASE NOTE: FEES ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE
The fee structure per class is as follows:
    • Prep/Level 1 Jazz/Beginner Tap                                    $100.00 per term
    • All other classes                                                                   $110.00 per term
      (excluding RAD Majors and Open classes)
    • RAD majors                                                                          $120.00 per term
      (Intermediate and Advanced Foundation,Open)

Please note: 10% GST will be added to the fees of students not currently attending Somerset College.

All Dance tuition (except the Prep class) occurs out-of-school hours. Parents are to drop off and pick up students from the nominated venues. All effort will be made to ensure parents are made aware of any change of venue.

DANCE DRESS REQUIREMENTS
Classical
    • Leotard
    • Pink seamless tights (Winter)
    • White socks (Summer)
    • Pink ballet slippers (with half inch pink elastic across)

Jazz
    • Black Jazz Shoes
