Academic follow up is carefully planned and structured.
Academic Monitor list - Students who have 3 or more "Inconsistents" in their semester reports, can expect to be on "The Academic Monitor List". This involves both the parents and the child being interviewed by the Deputy-Academic and a four weekly progress report.
Academic Review - Twice a year, every secondary student at the school is interviewed by their house tutor where academic progress is the topic of conversation. Prior to these interviews, each student' progress is individually scrutinised by the tutor, head of house and the dean of studies. These reviews have come to be expected by the students and serve as a valuable resource in charting the academic journey of each student.
Progress Reports - Progress Reports can be requested by parents if they feel that they need to have more frequent feed back about their child. These reports will reach parents every 4 weeks and can be used to avert potential problems before it is too late.
Parent - Teacher Interviews - There are designated Parent - Teacher evenings for all year levels. The school encourages parents to avail themselves of these opportunities and to also bring the student along to the interview. A three- way discussion is, invariably more fruitful. Apart from the officially designated times, parents are encouraged to make contact, when they need to, via diary, phone or email with subject teachers, heads of house, house tutors, the Senior Deputy, Deputy-Academic, Dean of Students, Academic Counsellor or Dean of Activities.
The Assessment Booklets have been designed and collated to assist students in each year level, and their parents, to have ready access to course overviews and assessment requirements for each subject.
