How to apply

To register an application please complete and return the School's official Application for Admission (from the Prospectus or  download here ) and return it together with a copy of your child's latest school report, a copy of the applicant's Birth Certificate and the Application Fee (currently $55) to:

The Application for Admission does not itself constitute an enrolment. Parents will be invited to come to the School for an interview in the year prior to entry (or earlier if a casual vacancy arises). If possible both parents should attend this interview.

Admission to the School is conditional upon the School being satisfied as to the ability of the pupil to benefit from the programmes offered. Parents will be notified, after the interview, if a place has been reserved for their child at the School. Generally, students are accepted in order of application.

Application Procedures

We encourage you to lodge your application as soon as possible. Invitations to attend an interview with the Headmaster, or his delegate, are made according to the date of application, once allowances for siblings and other priorities have been made.

Somerset College admits fifty pupils into the Early Education Class. These children move up through the Junior School and then into the Secondary School.

Other major intakes occur at Years 6, 7 and 8.

Casual vacancies sometimes occur and these may be offered to families with children on the waiting list. Preference for places is given to brothers and sisters of children already at the School. Limits on class sizes mean that an applicant may commence at the School in a later level than that for which the original application was made. The Headmaster, or his delegate, will interview applicants before entry to assess whether admission is appropriate at the level for which the application was made. When a place is offered a Registration Fee and Family Loan are payable to accept the place.
