The fitness development program has been running on Monday and Wednesday lunch times throughout Term Four for students in Years 5 to 9. This programme gives the students the opportunity to develop their aerobic fitness in a fun and supportive environment.

The programme has been overseen by Somerset College staff Dr Annette Eastwood (Sports Physiologist), Mark Ladbrook (Athletics Coach) and Emma Sturges (Strength and Conditioning Coach), with Bond University Sports Science students assisting with the programme delivery.

The sessions have included activities such as obstacle courses, circuit training, interval training on the treadmill, rowers and Wattbikes in the gym. The students have worked really hard during the sessions and have made some good improvements in their fitness over the six week programme. All students have really enjoyed the sessions and it is hoped that their new found enthusiasm for physical activity will continue into the future.
