Somerset Rowing students enjoy the physical and mental benefits of rowing, where they can strive to their own personal best effort whilst being a positive and productive member of the team.
Led by Head Coach Andrew Butler, we have a wonderful coaching team that has the experience to guide the rowers from beginner right through to international level. With a strong sense of community, it is a highly popular club for students in the Senior School at Somerset College.
Somerset Rowing is open to current Somerset students, Somerset Alumni and Somerset parents (both current and past). Somerset Rowing Registration and Membership forms may be downloaded as part of the 2013 Somerset Rowing Handbook available upon request.
Term One is an introductory phase for the Rowing season, giving new rowers the opportunity to learn skills to allow them to train and compete safely.
Terms Two and Three focus on Gold Coast Regional All Schools Rowing Association (GCRASRA) regattas and the Queensland Schools Rowing Championships.
Term Four is, for most rowers, a resting period, with no rowing until after exams. Immediately following exams training resumes for the Nationals Squad, who aim to compete at the Australian Championships.
