
The Somerset Celebration of Literature will be held from Wednesday 14 March to Friday 16 March 2018, it is a significant cultural event that reaches beyond Somerset College to include the whole community. This inspiring three day festival is held on the Gold Coast each year, with ticket sales exceeding 20,000.
Over 30 acclaimed authors from around Australia hold interactive sessions and workshops for both children and adults. It’s a great opportunity to meet authors and illustrators, have your books signed and enjoy a festival dedicated to reading and writing.

The 24th Somerset Celebration of Literature closed its final chapter on Friday night at the Tweed Banora Dental Literary Long Table Dinner in the surreal surrounds of Towers Quad with a full house and recognition of the talented winners of the National Novella and Poetry competitions.

Next week, the 24th Somerset Celebration of Literature unfolds on the grounds of Somerset College and around venues on the Gold Coast. Widely regarded as Australia’s premiere youth writer’s festival, this is our celebration of literature and a rich annual opportunity for our students.

Thank you to the amazing cast of Sandy’s Surfers Paradise Adventure – Anna Boone, Tanisha Chadha, Lilly McCoomb, Alex Ggric, Amy Jackson, Jenna Goldie, Georgina Powell and Sarah-Anne Hornsey – for their performance on Friday 24 February at Cavill Avenue as a part of the Surfers Paradise Sand Safari.

During the Somerset Celebration of Literature, we welcome over 30 renowned authors and illustrators from Australia and around the world.

We believe passionately in providing aspiring writers with opportunities for development. This is why we offer literature competitions that promote the artform of writing, and which can vary from year to year, depending on our focus.

Each year, we host approximately 120 events as part of the Somerset Celebration of Literature. The expansive programme includes special functions for adults, as well as family events and author sessions especially for school students.
