Keeping Locals Warm and Fed This Winter
By River Teixeira, Year 7 and Miku Adachi Year 11, Students
Local charity, Walk with Us took delivery of many meals this week provided by Somerset families. They were overwhelmed and extremely grateful.

Congratulations to Rhyll and Michael McMullen who successfully bid on exclusive car park access in the College turning circle for the remainder of the 2016 school year. We also thank our Headmaster who has happily agreed to moving his car to provide the extra space!
Through the McMullen’s generosity, funds raised will now contribute to our Service projects at the Chiang Mai Vien Ping Orphanage and the Huay Pong Hill Tribe School when we visit in the forth coming September holidays.
In three weeks, 21 students (from Years 6 to 9) and three staff will head off for 10 days to Chiang Mai and Bangkok where they will undertake both Service and Cultural learning through a visiting schools programme. We have all been busy raising funds throughout the term. As well as the car space option, we are currently promoting a cupcake drive, with all profits adding to the final result. We are aiming for $3,000.00. In the past we have used funds to build fresh water sinks, under cover areas, a new class room, consumables, nappies, blankets, air conditioners for nurseries, tricycles and much more. To date we have generously fundraised and donated 281,220.00 baht to these two worthy charities, whom we visit every second year.
We wish the McMullen’s 12 weeks of stress free parking! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Grace Curley (Year 7) and Long Roos (Class of 2015) who have donated $300 and $500 of their own money respectively. The benevolence of these families is truly very heartening.
We are grateful for their generosity, kindness and support. We know their money will provide valuable goods and opportunities to young children whose lives are vastly different and less fortunate than our own.
We look forward to our final fundraiser result, being the current cupcake drive. What better way for your family to enjoy the last week of term than with tasty cupcakes for morning tea! I know Mr Paul Taylor has emailed home the Wufoo form and details for ordering. Orders close Monday 5 and deliveries Monday 12 September.« Back to IndexNext article in this edition »
