OzHarvest is a for-impact organisation providing food rescue services and educational programmes with the wider purpose of Nourishing Our Country!

Congratulations to the following students who, over the last two months, have continued to volunteer their time to support this organisation: Aidan Chan, Sebastian Leat, Jemma Wilkins, Lauren Chan, Lauren Mitnovetsky.

Specifically, Aidan and Sebastian have again been a huge help donating not only their time, enthusiasm and energy, but helping to raise vital funds and collect food for the charity recipients.

All the above students attended a morning of gingerbread icing and everyone kindly gave up their Saturday morning to help decorate hundreds of biscuits, all of which will be sold to help raise funds to keep the food rescue vans on the road. Aidan and Lauren kindly helped with a gingerbread and promotional stand at the NightQuarter market, which OzHarvest were very grateful for.

Lee Danahay, the OZHarvest Gold Coast Manager, said "We are extremely grateful to all your students for giving of their time to support our cause and we thoroughly look forward to their continued support and that of Somerset College for many years to come!"

At the College we aim for all of the service opportunities that our students engage in to evolve beyond simply doing good for others. It is through authentic service, such as the work here with OZHarvest, that our students have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and can also identify how their genuine actions can achieve a positive outcome. The College is exceptionally proud of these students and their willingness to actively engage in supporting those in need.
