Wherever your Easter holiday break takes you, it will be much more enjoyable with a great book. Here at Somerset, we actively encourage students to borrow books over the holiday breaks as they are the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and read purely for pleasure.

If your children find themselves needing some holiday reading inspiration, we have put together lists of Great Reads, for both younger children and teenagers, so they will be sure to find the perfect holiday book(s). They can even search the Gold Coast City Library catalogue and reserve their choices, which they then collect from their nominated GC Library branch.

2016 - T1 - W9 - Reading

It is a great idea to join Gold Coast libraries. It’s free, these is no minimum age to join and membership gives you not only your pick of their enormous collection of books but access to online resources and databases that are invaluable for research, particularly in Senior School.

We may be physically closed over the break, but our eBooks are available for loan 24/7 from anywhere in the world. They also save on precious luggage space and the backlit screen on the iPad makes reading in bed until the wee hours just heavenly, no torch required.

Our Great Reads guides also feature a new online book request form, for those favourite books we simply have to add to our collection here at Somerset.

Happy Easter and happy reading! We look forward to hearing all about the wonderful books our students have discovered when we all come back in Term Two.
