Somerset Spartans Football Update
By Maarten De Kruijf, Co-ordinator - Football
During the holiday the Spartans Football Club continued. The boys and girls are unstoppable in the breaks, read below to see how the Spartans performed.
Dean Marais, Basketball Coach
Spartans Club Basketball is off to red hot start in 2019, with 22 teams (from U9s to U20s) now competing in the Gold Coast Basketball Club Competition. Since Spartans Basketball Club was established in 2016, our players and teams have shown passion and commitment, and achieved great growth and success as a result.
We encourage inclusion, focus on building resilience, and teaching life skills through basketball. The Basketball Club promotes a culture where students learn about teamwork, humility, work ethic and grit.
Four rounds of grading games resume this week, before the regular season tips off after the Easter break. Good luck to all teams in week 2 of grading, you were all very impressive in week 1 - keep it up!
U11 Girls: Abhilasha Sarmah
Abhilasha played in her first game ever (which happened to be in the top division) and was great in defence, playing with fantastic effort and attitude. Well done Abhilasha!
U13 Boys: Tarang Kondamudi
Tarang contributed to a great win in week 1 for his team, going after every rebound on both ends, and playing with great intensity. The smile never left his face, and the positive energy he gives his teammates is absolutely priceless. Good on you Tarang!
