The Somerset Spartans Under 15s played on Wednesday in the Carrara Elite League. This was the last game for our Spartans for the season and by the end of the round they were in the top four and had qualified for the finals.
Winning the semi-final meant the Spartans would have played the grand final on the same night.
It was 5.20pm, the team has warmed up and ready for kick off. Somerset dominated the game from the start. We had the most possession and better combinations. Unfortunately, three counter attacks have put the score at 3 nil down. The boys didn’t want to give up and fought themselves to get back in the game with two goals before half time. The half time score was 3 to 2.
At half time the boys knew that the grand final was very close. Keeping the intensity high and improving our transitions in moments, we could see beating the opponent was possible. We got what they wanted and scored the equalizer! 3 to 3. We were then gunning for the winning goal, and we came very close! We were very unlucky conceding one more goal before full time. The boys deserved to play in the Grand Final but the opponent took the win 4 to 3.
Thank you for the great Futsal season Somerset Spartans Under 15. Oliver Leal, Ethan Robinson, Bongani Mhlanga, Daleep Bains, Raffi Anderson and Peter Osborne.
