The Most Fantastic, Funniest Camp Ever
By Tima Korin, Year 4 Student
I loved all the activities at the Year 4 camp but my favourites were rock climbing and canoeing. Lake Ainsworth was such a beautiful, brilliant place.
Andrew Michael, Junior School Sports Co-ordinator
Last week, four of our best swimmers in the Junior School swam at the South Coast Swim Trials held at the Southport Aquatic Centre. This was a fantastic achievement in itself as students needed to qualify through the APS carnival to swim against the best swimmers on the Gold Coast.
These swimmers performed exceptionally well. In the 10 Years Girls division Bessie Dear came 3rd in the 50m Backstroke and Lilli Hodge came 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and 8th in the 50m Butterfly race. In the 10 Year Boys division Anthony Graham came 7th in the 100m Freestyle and 8th in the 50m Freestyle race. In the 12 Years Boys division Phoenix Kyaw came 6th on the 50m Breaststroke race.
Congratulations to these swimmers and their coaches. Somerset Swim Club has been coaching and training Bessie, Lilli, Anthony and Phoenix for the past few years. Their results and growth over the years has been excellent. Congratulations!
On Friday 10 and 24 March we are having a whole College race down at the Track. This is for anyone in the Somerset Community who wants to test their fitness against both our Junior and Senior School students. The distance will be 2km and 4km, sign-on will be at 7.00am and the race will commence at 7.30am. See you there.
Our trials are over and our Junior School Winter Sports teams are final. Well done to all the students and coaches who made a long and complicated process seem very seamless. The final coaching schedule is on the Junior school Sport Schoolbox page. Compulsory training will commence in Term Two. Team training is on a Tuesday either 7.15am to 8.15am or 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Protective equipment such as mouth guards, shinpads and correct footwear are needed for training.« Back to IndexNext article in this edition »
