Students from Year 5 have been working very hard over the past term to bring the Somerset College community together on the night of Friday 9 September at the Primary Years Programme Exhibition.
This event will showcase the Year 5 students’ knowledge and understanding of real-world challenges and opportunities that children face world-wide, including freedom and personal identity, access to clean water, child labour and access to sport and play.
I have always been interested in learning about other nations and how other children are raised. My topic for this exhibition is gender equality and inequality in education in developing countries.
There will be three actions that I will take to highlight this topic.
First, I will be raising funds by organising a cake stall on the night of the exhibition. These funds will be donated to UNICEF.
Second, I will be writing an article and posting it on Facebook to draw attention to this issue. The number of people that like the article will indicate the awareness that it has created.
The last action will be handing out brochures on the night of the exhibition that will illustrate the problems and draw awareness.
