Just over a fortnight ago, Somerset College hosted the annual Mudgeeraba Special School Art and Photography Event in Towers Quad. The event exhibited brilliant photographs, paintings, and sculptures that were created by the students and staff of Mudgeeraba Special School.

Guests that attended were able to bid for many of the art pieces, with proceeds going to Mudgeeraba Special School. Our cohort was fortunate enough to secure two paintings that we will hang proudly in the Senior Learning Centre next year.

For Year 11, this event marked the end of what was a fabulous year of involvement with Mudgeeraba Special School. Year 11 visited the lovely students from Mudgeeraba most Wednesday lunchtimes this year as a part of the Mudgee Kids Service Learning Programme. During these visits, we enjoyed the company of Mudgeeraba students through playing games, sport, reading, and talking with them during their lunch break.

The 95 students who participated in the programme greatly enjoyed their time with the Mudgeeraba students this year. The programme went beyond expectations. Although we are saddened that the programme has ended, we are grateful for the experience.
