On Thursday 18 August, the Senior Concert Band packed up their instruments and travelled to the Gold Coast Arts Centre to participate in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.

Performing in the Eisteddfod is a wonderful way to boost confidence and showcase the talent of school students from all around the Coast and is truly an incredible experience.

Upon arrival, there was no time to waste. We dropped our bags and cases in our allocated room backstage before moving on to the stage ready to perform as the first band in our section of eight. We were all very excited to show what we could do, performing our three pieces, Celebration and Tribute, Outback Fantasy and Metro Dance. Along with many comments of praise and encouragement from the adjudicator, we placed second overall, a fantastic achievement. “Lovely contrasting moments throughout the piece”, “wonderful solo from first trumpet” and “great use of Australian repertoire”, are just some of the encouraging comments the adjudicator made.

On behalf of the band I would like to thank Mrs Roberts for all her hard work and encouragement throughout the many hours of rehearsal and the performance. We wouldn’t have been able to perform, let alone achieve our fantastic result without you.
