The Somerset Senior girls crews dominated proceedings at the recent Saint Peter's Lutheran College regatta which was held at Coomera Waters, led by Katherine Plume who won the Under 17 Single scull, the Year 10 Double and Quad Sculls as well as the Open Eight.

Katherine was joined in the Double Scull with Jade Mansell and in the Quad Scull with Hannah Neumann, Solange Page-Stephens and Charlotte Roche. The Year 10 girls completed a clean sweep, when Hannah combined with Madizen Wilkins to win the Division 2 Double Scull event.

Generic - Rowing

Brieanna Bischof also contributed with third place in the Girls Under 17 Single Scull and victories in the Open Double, Quad and the Eight. Brieanna combined with Talia Varcoe in the Double Scull, and the duo also teamed up with Elizabeth Kay, Olivia Sina and Anneka Lanham in the Quad Scull and the Eight with the Year 10 girls.

In the boys' events, Declan Thew was a stand-out with victory in the Under 15 Single and the Year 9 Quad Scull as well as second place in the Double Scull along with Julius Wright. The duo combined with Joe Lanham and Thomas McKenna to win the Quad Scull.

The other high point for the regatta was victories in Division 1 and Division 2 of the Year 8 Boys Quad Scull, with Leo Xin, Samuel Liu, Anthony McKenna, Chester Whiting and Callum Munro taking out Division 1, whilst Bailey Morris, Carter Loades, Harry Newing, Min Jae Kyeong and Christian Mullin took victory in Division 2.

With almost 70 rowers competing the regatta, there were many great results and a few learning experiences for the rowers to take into the upcoming regattas. The rowers will compete in one final regatta at Coomera on 28 May before they venture out to the new buoyed 2,000 metre rowing course at Wyaralong for the final regatta of the Gold Coast series on 11 June.
