Congratulations to all Senior students for the way in which they completed their examinations this semester. Our students are to be praised for their conduct during this period.
It was great to see our Year 12 students working together to study for their examinations and this should give them great confidence for their QCS examinations that take place on the last two days of August.
The Queensland Government will introduce a new senior assessment system for students entering Year 11 in 2018. This new system will use both school-based assessment and a common external examination sat by all students studying that subject in Queensland. There will be a move from the current OP system to an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). Our College currently has a number of teachers involved in professional development activities trialling the new system and this will continue to grow throughout the transition period.
In the current examination period our Year 11 Cohort was involved in two trials for the new senior assessment system. The subjects chosen were English and Mathematics B and despite the nervousness of sitting for an examination set by external parties, the students gave their very best in these assessments and again are to be applauded for the professional standards they set.
With reports to be issued at the end of this term, we encourage parents to discuss their child’s report with them and to contact subject teachers if they have any questions. Please note that the Year 11 Mathematics B results will not be on this report but will be issued as soon as results from the external examination are made available to the College.
