This week in the APS Summer Season we play AB Paterson College and also begin preparing for South Coast Athletics after our victory in the APS Athletics Carnival last week.

APS Round 1 Results

Matthew Sprague, Gymnastics

Matthew Sprague (Year 9) and Michael Dobroskok (Year 6) have been selected to represent their gymnastics club (SPC) at the National Club Championships in Bendigo in September.

The boys are part of a 6 man team in Division C (Level 5-7). After this, both boys will likely compete individually at Chandler, Brisbane in Queensland State Titles pending qualification at Regionals which takes place this weekend on the Gold Coast.

Owen Derrick, Cycling

Owen Derrick competed in a long distance bike race last weekend called The Peaks Challenge. He completed the course in 10 hours last year and this year even better in 9 hours and 32 minutes.

Yukimaro Ii, Tennis

Yukimaro competed in the Townsville Open Age Tournament and he made the semis in Open Men singles and won the Open Men doubles.

Bianca Crisp, Open Water Swimming

Bianca competed as part of the Australian Swimming Team at the 11th Oceania Swimming Championships held in Suva, Fiji from 21 to 26 June. Bianca swam in the Open Women’s 10km at Uprising Beach in extremely rough windy conditions to place 2nd in a time of 2 hours 42 mins – only 37 seconds behind 1st place. On the last day of competition Bianca went on to also place 2nd in the Women’s Open 5km in 1 hour 7 mins - only 20 seconds behind 1st place events. It was an amazing experience to compete internationally against swimmers from 14 different counties such as Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa and Guam. Bianca had the remarkable opportunity to grow as a swimmer throughout her involvement as part of an Australian Team.

Track and Field Season

Practices every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.00am for all students qualifying for the South Coast Trials on 6 and 7 September and students wishing to be considered for the Queensland All-Schools teams event in Term Four. Season Calendar is available on Schoolbox.
