Friday night was a momentous occasion for the Somerset College community with the inaugural club Basketball games being played in our fantastic new facility, and it was a sight to behold.

With 65 Somerset College students enjoying the freshly varnished floorboards, the Spartans worked together to defend their opposition, share the ball around and shoot it through our impressive new hoops on numerous occasions.

A big thank you to the Somerset College Community for providing us with these great facilities. Huge accolades also to the skilful and enthusiastic coaches for their work and my appreciation to the parents who have supported the club throughout the weekend by offering their services to manage, score and transport their children (as well as barrack and encourage court-side). The students played tremendous team basketball over the two days.

The club would also like to recognise the Gold Coast Regional Basketball administration team for their hard work and support of our new club.

A reminder that on the Sports Precinct Open Day, Saturday 5 March, the club will be holding clinics and mini games for any Somerset College student wishing to participate.
