Saturday 30 April will see the first regatta for the Gold Coast Schools season and the Somerset College Rowing supporters will be hosting the regatta which will be held at Coomera.
The Rowing committee will be responsible for logistics and catering for the regatta, which should see close to 300 students converge on the lake for the opening regatta of 2016.
Racing will start at 8.00am for around 60 races, from Single Sculls through to Eights. Events will be held for boys and girls in Year 8 through to Year 12.
The Somerset caterers are renowned for their cooking skills and especially with "Cupcake Queen" competition being judged on the day. All of the Coomera regattas are supported by Rowing Queensland, Gold Coast Region All Schools Rowing Association, the Gold Coast City Council and Division 2, Coucilor Owen-Jones.
I would like to extend a special thanks to the all of the College staff, coaches and to the Rowing Committee for their assistance in preparing for the regatta and would like to wish our rowers the best of luck as they embark on the new rowing season.
