More than 50 Somerset students will be representing the College at the Queensland Schools Rowing Championships which will be held at Bucca Weir near Bundaberg on the first weekend of the school holidays.

The regatta will hold races for students from Years 8 to 12 with qualification races and finals held over three days of racing. The rowers have been preparing throughout the year to compete at the event which is a highlight of the season.

Rowing Captains Olivia Sina and Reuben Mansell will lead the squad and will be joined by five other Year 12 students who will be competing in their last regatta for Somerset, marking the end of their five years of rowing.

Three of our students, Jade Mansell, Lachlan Munro and Blake Mills will also represent the South Coast region in the Inter-Regional Championships which takes place at the beginning of the regatta.

I would like to thank all of the coaches who have helped prepare the squad though out the year and also to wish all our rowers the best of luck as they take on hundreds of rowers from all over Queensland.
