Throughout the year, members of the Senior String Quartet: Abby Hall (Year 12), Sam Stevenson (Year 11), Lillian Jai and Uni Kyeong (Year 10), rehearsed in anticipation of their Eisteddfod performance.

Performing two contrasting pieces, the quartet showcased their dynamic control through the piece Scherzo, and their energy through the lively Rhumba. The adjudicator awarded the quartet a Highly Commended and recognised the quartet’s performance energy, as well as giving advice regarding some of the finer details of our performance. A big thanks to our director, Mr Keczan, for all his guidance throughout the year.

The Eisteddfod performance was followed by the quartet providing the background music at the Somerset College Foundation Garden Party last Saturday. Although Sam was unable to make this performance, Bianca Zhang (Year 12) filled in for the group. Whilst the guests sipped their champagne, and although it was a little damp, the music provided by the quartet was definitely a ray of sunshine in the afternoon. Thanks must go to the group for their continued support of the various functions that occur around the College.
