The limos, the red carpet, the flashes from cameras, the gasps of delight from adoring crowds – yes this year’s Senior Ball had it all. The Mantra on View offered the longest red carpet experience in recent times – spanning two levels of the hotel!
All the major designers were represented: Dior, Hugo Boss, Versace ... you only had to see Jake Happe’s outfit to know it was a very special occasion.
With photos against the new Somerset College photo-wall, à la the Academy Awards, photos in the Reception room, House photos and photos in the photo-booth, no aspect of the evening went unrecorded, I can assure you!
Our College Leaders welcomed us with well-crafted speeches, and Parker Hewitt, Anneliese McConnell and Olivia Bourne sang a medley of three songs to accompany a photo-story which included every member of the Class of 2016.
Before carriages arrived, there was time for some dancing. There were elements of Foxtrot and Cha Cha Cha reworked into popping, breaking, funk and hip hop; yes, Señor Ham was on fire!
Special thanks go to this year’s Senior Ball Committee and our Events Office for organising what one Headmaster who attended thought: “was the best Senior Ball I can remember”!
