During the Free Choice Task, I decided to design and 3D print a model stadium. This was my chosen project as this field is of personal interest and my Year Level has not had the chance to use the 3D printers, as they are fairly new.

This was a perfect opportunity to develop my skills in this area and to create a challenging goal for my final project of this subject.

I have chosen to relate my stadium to a proposed Rugby League team, the West Coast Pirates. They will be represented within the construction of the stadium (for example, Seats being coloured with the team’s colours – red, gold and black). Also, other potential teams to be based out of the stadium will also be represented – Western Force and Perth Glory.

After completing some preliminary research into crowd figures for both the existing clubs and based on the Gold Coast Titans’ 2007 attendances, I decided that a stadium which, if scaled up, would seat between 25,000 and 30,000 fans. The stadium will be inspired by the Deodoro Stadium, the Adelaide Oval and the redeveloped ANZ stadium.

During this project, I hope to gain skills to use Autodesk Inventor to create a workable design for the 3D Cube printer. Through the process of designing, creating and reflecting I hope to be able to develop a design which both represents the client and my journey within Design.
