The Year 10 IAS students spent some very relaxing time on Thursday 9 March looking at Coolangatta and the way the local environment has been managed.
In such a pleasant setting it can be quite demanding for an average Year 10 student to pay attention to their surroundings when they are in a social bubble with their friends, but to their credit, they did quite well. On such a beautiful day the attraction of the beaches was obvious, but less obvious was how effectively the foreshores and the commercial area have been organised to make this such a successful area of the coast.
With the worlds’ best surfers in the area warming up for next weeks’ Quiksilver event and the Surf Lifesaving State titles taking over the beaches to the north of Kirra there was a lot going on. Hopefully this fortunate timing will have helped the students to all the careful environmental management that has gone into making this area so attractive to so many.
