In Term Two, Year 7 Sciences learnt about renewable and non-renewable energy sources. We discovered information that lead us to believe that renewable energy resources are the right decision. We worked in small groups and created our own wind anemometer as an investigation to help us understand renewable energy.
As the next generation we think it is important for us to learn about our planet, as we know that some natural resources are not endless and they need to be carefully managed for use in the future. We continued to examine that careful management of our natural resources is essential if they are to remain productive as they are today. We think it is very important to take care of the planet and these are just small steps in doing so.
Community gardens are very beneficial by not only bringing people together to help neighbourhoods but also give individuals the opportunity to learn, grow and live together. At the conclusion of Term Two, our Year 7 cohort was given a donation of seedlings by the ‘Southern Beaches Community Garden’ group at Tugun. We had the pleasure of planting a lettuce and Flanders’ Field Red Poppy seedling each. It will be wonderful to see these seedlings grow and eat from plant to plate. We give a special thanks to the Southern Beaches Community Garden for giving us a planting experience.
