Celebration of Entrepreneurship 20182018

This year Somerset College is again conducting its Celebration of Entrepreneurship. This festival will deliver a program which supports the growth of entrepreneurial skills amongst students.

Alongside our keynote speakers, Mark Sowerby, Dr Clarence Tan, Ben Southall and Orange Sky several other world celebrated entrepreneurs will attend the Festival and impart their wealth of knowledge to the students. The students will be able to hear firsthand stories of both successes and failures when taking the step into the business industry. In addition, select entrepreneurs will offer workshops to students to foster the entrepreneurial mindset

The initiative will provide students with the knowledge, networks and hands-on experience to help them launch their own enterprises both now and in the future. We are very excited about bringing this exciting opportunity to the Somerset College community.

The Festival will occur 16 to 17 October 2018 and will involve many Somerset College Year 10 students operating business stalls to sell their products to the wider community. It will also involve our Year 6 students owning and operating their Club Kidpreneur. Tickets to the event will be free.

The Somerset Alumni Association will also play an active role at the Festival by way of sponsorship of the Middle Years Pitch Competition, thus allowing past students to share their stories of success. Existing social enterprise partners of the College, including Mudgeeraba Special School, Guide Dogs Queensland, Rize Up, Still Waters and The Salvation Army will also be represented at the Festival, to share stories and opportunities in the growing area of Social Entrepreneurship.
