The Teacher – Senior School (English) is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality English education that challenges and supports students to achieve their personal best. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Senior English, Literature and English & Literature Extension, with the ability to teach across Years 8–12 as required.
You will play an important role in nurturing students' critical thinking, analytical and communication skills, equipping them to become confident learners and informed global citizens.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver engaging and effective English programs that support outstanding student learning and achievement
Teach English across Years 8–12, including Senior English, Literature and English & Literature Extension as required
Foster student curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and a passion for literature and learning
Develop and implement high-quality curriculum, assessment and reporting practices
Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student wellbeing and success
Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of students
Build positive and productive relationships with students, families and colleagues
Collaborate with faculty members to enhance curriculum delivery and teaching practices
Contribute to co-curricular, pastoral care and broader College initiatives
Participate actively in professional learning and continuous improvement opportunities
ABOUT YOU
You are an accomplished English educator with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student success. Drawing on your expertise in literature, language and critical inquiry, you deliver engaging and intellectually rigorous learning experiences that inspire curiosity, foster analytical thinking and cultivate a lifelong appreciation of learning.
You bring:
Demonstrated experience teaching Senior English, Literature and/or English & Literature Extension
The ability to teach across Years 8–12 as required
Strong disciplinary and pedagogical knowledge in English and Literature education
Tertiary qualifications with a strong Literature focus (ideally a Bachelor of Arts (Literature)) and demonstrated success preparing students for outstanding outcomes in Senior English and Literature subjects. Experience teaching English & Literature Extension and/or International Baccalaureate Programmes (MYP) will be highly regarded
A passion for literature, writing and critical thinking, and the ability to ignite this passion in students
The ability to foster high levels of student engagement, achievement and academic growth
Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families and colleagues
A commitment to academic excellence, student wellbeing and continuous improvement
High levels of professionalism, reliability, integrity and discretion
Current Queensland College of Teachers Registration
Current First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
