Somerset College is committed to fostering student success through meaningful academic support beyond the classroom. Our dedicated Supervised Independent Study and Specialist Subject Support programmes provide structured, supervised environments where students can consolidate their learning, access targeted assistance, and develop strong study habits and academic independence.

Supervised Independent Study

  • Years 5–9
  • Knowledge and Information Precinct (KIP)
  • Daily | 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Designed for students in Years 5 to 9, this structured study session offers a quiet, supervised space for homework, revision, or reading. It’s the perfect way to develop independent study habits in a supportive, supervised environment.

Specialist Subject Support

  • Years 10–12
  • BLC Level 2
  • Monday, Wednesday & Thursday | 3:30pm – 5:00pm

This tutoring program provides targeted support for senior students studying:

  • Mathematical Methods
  • Specialist Mathematics
  • General Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

These sessions are led by subject specialists and offer personalised assistance with course content and assessments. Students are encouraged to bring questions, clarify concepts, and deepen their understanding in a collaborative, focused setting.
