Somerset Triathlon Academy (POGO, Jakroo) displays outstanding performance over the October 28 to 29 weekend and is crowned 2023 All Schools Triathlon Champions.

Spartan triathletes headed to Kawana this past weekend to compete at the All-Schools Regional trials. The race brought together some of the best athletes in Australia as most high performing triathletes reside in South-East QLD. The squad set foot at Lake Kawana with two main objectives, qualify as many athletes as possible to State Champs and take the overall trophy.

Our younger 10 to 11-year-old triathletes also competed at Kawana as part of their preparation for South Coast Aquathlon trials held on Monday, October 30. Kai Edgley, Imogen Sounness, and Monet De Bruin raced both Saturday and Monday races. Kai raced celebrating his birthday and gifted himself with an outstanding qualification to State Championship.

The official South Coast list has not been released yet, but we believe that among Somerset athletes and Spartan Triathlon Club members we had the following athletes qualify for State Championships to be held at Hervey Bay in February:

The squad will now focus on the upcoming Junior and Youth National Championships in December and the Australian Grand Prix Triathlon in January. Both races are done over the high intensity Super Sprint distance (300m swim, 8km cycle, 2km run) and are draft-legal during the cycling leg making swimming speed and cycling skills decisive for winning.
