The Kwaya Ubuntu African Choir are a vibrant group of young performers from Uganda and Kenya, sharing high-energy performances and raising vital funds to support education programs in their home countries.

We were thrilled to welcome the Kwaya Ubuntu Choir to Somerset College, where they performed for our Junior School students as part of our year-long focus on Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is an African philosophy that speaks to the deep interconnectedness of all people. Often translated as “I am because we are,” Ubuntu teaches that our individual wellbeing is tied to the wellbeing of others. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, respect, and community, values that resonate deeply with the Junior School’s 2025 theme and approach to learning.

This performance will not only enrich our understanding of Ubuntu but will strengthen the sense of connection within our classrooms and the broader Somerset community, including students, staff, and families.
