To understand how a giant space rock could change the world forever, our budding scientists transformed into geologists and physicists. They spent their lab time investigating crater formation, simulating the exact moment a prehistoric "apocalypse" met the Earth's surface.

From lightweight "space dust" (ping pong balls) to heavy-duty (solid ball bearings), the students launched various asteroids into their miniature Jurassic landscapes. By measuring the "dent" each object left behind, they saw the laws of physics in action: the heavier the asteroid, the greater the crater!

It was fantastic to see the Year 6s so energized, connecting the dots between hands-on science and the legendary events of Earth’s past. They walked away with a much deeper appreciation for the forces that shaped our planet and a few grains of sand in their pockets!

Great job, Year 6!
