The Somerset College House Plays Festival strives to provide an opportunity for students to participate in a friendly, supportive, and yet competitive theatrical experience.

The House Plays Festival is our annual Inter-House play event. Two Year 11 or 12 students from each House assume roles as co-directors and are responsible for selecting scripts, auditioning, and directing their entry for the festival.

In 2022, the festival will occur at the end of Week 4, Term One. Because of this, auditions will occur in Week 7, Term Four, 2021, Monday 15 to Friday 19 of November.

The link to the audition sign-up app is located on the Performing Arts Schoolbox page, or you can access it by clicking the link below. Please ensure you select the correct House and click on the name of the student director. You will then be able to select a time and enter your name. Two students from the same House are welcome to audition together.

Auditions will be held in The Suzanne Roberts Centre for Performing Arts. Simply arrive in the foyer and you will be directed to the audition room.

If you are unable to attend an audition on campus in Week 7, we welcome video auditions as well! Please email Mrs Anna D’Arcy – Assistant Head of Performing Arts at adarcy@somerset.qld.edu.au and she can assist you with this process.

The House Plays Festival audition process is open to all 2022 Somerset students who are in Year 7 to 12. Current Year 6 students and students who are about to commence their learning journey at the College are encouraged to get involved!

All students who audition receive points for their House. The festival prides itself in fostering positive relationships between all year levels at the college and is a wonderful way to meet new people and (of course) explore a love of performing.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the House Play Directors for 2022:

Andrews House – Rishi Veeramachaneni and Megan Cattell

Franklin House – Daniel Harvey and Samuel Rigby

Laver House – Amaani Bhasin and Ethan Robinson

Starkey House – Julia Puhalla and Hannah Zubair

Veivers House – Thomas Kilmartin and Louis Ladbrook

Our directors look forward to welcoming many students into the audition room next week!
