Future Stars Event

On Sunday 4 November Somerset Tennis Team travelled to Hinterland Tennis Club to Compete in Round 4 of Future Stars.

Future Stars is a team event aimed to get students involved in their first Tennis tournament.

Six Clubs competed which included:
  • Somerset College
  • KDV
  • Hinterland Tennis Club
  • Sonic Tennis
  • Pro-One Tweed
  • Surfers Paradise
We had four students representing Somerset in the Red Ball:
  • Paxton Stewart
  • Sharni Norman
  • Lucy Pluss
  • Jack Pluss
  • Paxton Ryan
  • Tamar Chester-Haviv

The goal of today was to play as a team and show great sportsmanship. The team votes on how kind and helpful the other team was. Sharni Norman was voted as the player who showed great Sportsmanship. What a great achievement!

Overall Somerset placed third which was a great achievement.

We also had six students represent Somerset in the Orange Ball:
  • William Pluss
  • Ethan Stewart
  • Mia Richards
  • Sasha Hanford
  • Noa Chester-Haviv

The goal of the day was the same as the red ballers. Somerset again showed some great sportsmanship with Justin Kim taking out the award.

Overall Somerset finished first which is a great achievement.

Brisbane International Schools Challenge Trials (Year 4 and Under)

On Thursday 1 November Somerset travelled to Pro-One Runaway Bay to compete in the Year 4 and under Brisbane International Trials.

There were five schools who entered:
  • Saint Francis Xavier
  • Somerset College
  • St Vincent’s
  • TSS
  • Coombabah State School
Somerset had a team of nine students compete against these schools:
  • Liam O’Nuallain
  • William Pluss
  • Ethan Stewart
  • Jamie Batho
  • Roneel Khartri
  • Justin Kim
  • Inca Burdett
  • Sharni Norman
  • Paxton Stewart

At the end of the day, the team finished in first place and will now compete in the State Finals in January.
